{"id":145,"date":"2022-10-19T22:43:26","date_gmt":"2022-10-19T22:43:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.uab.pt\/congresso-humanidades\/?page_id=145"},"modified":"2023-09-13T16:27:08","modified_gmt":"2023-09-13T16:27:08","slug":"call-for-papers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.uab.pt\/itel2023-en\/call-for-papers\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Papers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Call for Papers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-c3-framew-gutenbergblocks-timeline schedule\"><div class=\"gbt-timeline-title-wrapper\"><div class=\"gbt-timeline-title tt-title\"><\/div><\/div><ul class=\"gbt-timeline-content-wrapper\"><\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:15%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Thematic axes<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The 3rd International Conference on Innovation and Technology in Language Teaching will unfold around the following thematic axes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Digital assessment in language and culture teaching (reliability; adequacy; effectiveness; ethical issues; impact of AI&#8230;);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Innovation and practices in the teaching of languages and cultures in digital environments (augmented reality; m-learning; e-learning; b-learning; gamification; development of different communicative competences; creation and exploration of digital resources in the teaching and learning of languages and cultures; applications and various digital tools; MOOCs&#8230;).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:22px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Proposals of paper or workshop<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested parties should submit a file (.doc or .pdf) for each <strong>paper<\/strong> or <strong>workshop<\/strong> proposal by September 22, 2023 on the following platform: <a href=\"https:\/\/easyabs.linguistlist.org\/submit\/iTel2023\">https:\/\/easyabs.linguistlist.org\/submit\/iTel2023<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each proposal (.doc or .pdf file) must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>have the word &#8220;paper&#8221; or &#8220;workshop&#8221; inside square brackets, followed by the title;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>include an abstract of 250 to 300 words;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>include 3 to 5 keywords and up to 5 references;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be written in Portuguese, German, Spanish, French or English;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>not<\/strong> identify the authors in the file (they are identified only through the platform).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>papers<\/strong> should be 15 minutes in length, followed by 5 minutes of discussion, and should combine a theoretical framework with a practical-pedagogical component, particularly highlighting the demonstration of results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>workshops<\/strong> should be 25 minutes in length, followed by 5 minutes of discussion, and may use the format of an open class, practical demonstration of resources and tools, or creation of online activities or practices, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proposals must contain a description of the objectives and topics to be covered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A selection of the proposals presented at the Conference will be published after a peer review process. The present paper reports an approximate replication of the original study with the aim of confirming or disconfirming the results of the first study. The research questions of both studies addressed the receptive acquisition of new vocabulary and the receptive and productive acquisition of markers of plurality resulting from instruction using input\u2010based tasks. Both studies investigated year 9 near\u2010beginner learners of French. The teacher, the students\u2019 usual classroom teacher, was the same in both studies. In the replication study, a new larger group of year 9 students were investigated, the length of the instruction was also increased, involving the development of additional input\u2010based tasks, and productive as well as the receptive knowledge of the vocabulary items was assessed. The results of the two studies were compared. In both studies the learners manifested receptive gains in vocabulary and the target structure. They failed to demonstrate statistically significant gains in production of the target structures although the effect of the instruction was sizable. In the replication study the learners also manifested productive knowledge of the target vocabulary. The results of the replication study confirm and extend those of the original study. The teachers\u2019 views about the role of input\u2010based tasks with near\u2010beginner learners remained constant in the two studies.
