Submitted full papers will be subject to a two-stage evaluation process:
a) In the first stage, all submitted manuscripts will undergo a preliminary assessment by the WSD’26 Scientific Committee, focusing on compliance with the formal requirements, relevance to the seminar themes, structure of the manuscript, and the overall quality and originality of the research.
b) Only papers that successfully pass this preliminary assessment will move to the second stage. In this stage, selected manuscripts will be submitted to Fronteiras: Journal of Social, Technological and Environmental Science, indexed in SCOPUS (Q4) and other databases. Once submitted to the journal, the papers will follow the journal’s standard editorial and peer-review process, as defined by its editorial board.
Authors should therefore note that submission of a full paper does not guarantee publication. Each manuscript may be accepted, accepted subject to revisions, or rejected, depending on the outcome of the scientific and editorial review process.
The journal’s general submission guidelines include the following requirements that must be addressed:
Original texts resulting from advanced research or theoretical reflection.
Minimum of 5,000 and maximum of 10,000 words, including footnotes.
Title in Spanish and English or Portuguese and English.
Abstract in Spanish and English or Portuguese and English, with a minimum of 150 words and a maximum of 300 words.
3–4 keywords in Spanish and English or Portuguese and English.

Call for abstracts (Closed)

Abstracts must be uploaded in *.docx file format and through the specific submission form.
Abstracts must have between 800 – 1000 words, written in English Portuguese or French. The title, authors’ names, and affiliations are not included in the word count. Font: Times New Roman, size 12. Spacing: Single line spacing. Alignment: Justified. Title: Bold, centered, sentence case. All figures (e.g., Figure 1) and tables (e.g., Table 1) must be properly numbered, captioned, and consistently referenced in the main text.
Abstract must start with a clear title followed by the author’s names (e.g. Jorge Trindade1, Doris Sayago2 and João Simão3) and affiliation (e.g. 1. University A…; 2. Reserch Centre B….; 3. University C…).
The abstract must clearly define a relevant and original research problem, situate it within current international literature, and explicitly identify the knowledge gap addressed. It should present a solid theoretical or conceptual framework, clearly stated objectives or research questions, and a rigorous, transparent methodology that allows reviewers to assess scientific robustness. Whether theoretical or applied, the contribution must be clearly articulated and grounded in established debates.
The abstract should include concrete results or well-defined expected outcomes, followed by a concise discussion of their implications for both theory and practice. Strong emphasis should be placed on originality and interdisciplinary relevance (if applicable). Clear structure, precise academic language, and logical coherence are essential, as is a concluding synthesis that positions the work within broader research and application trajectories.

Track 2: Water-related risks, climate change and societal challenges
Track 3: Water, economy and livelihood
Track 4: Water resources supply and reuse
Track 5: Sustainability and local development
Track 6: Governance and social inclusion

Session presentations
During the event (5-7 November), presentations may be delivered orally in English, Portuguese, or French, however, the presentation support materials must be in English (PowerPoint or PDF).
